Beitrag Who can tell me about this picture ?
Hi all, I was sent this picture some time ago. Can anybody tell me anything about it ?

As you can see it's the launch of the 1,500,000th MG known as the Golden Jubilee TF (for the Queen's Golden Jubilee), it has special features such as the Queens crest on the headrests and wheel cap centres (which I have pictures of). In the background you may see Roche Bentley and Roger Parker of the MGOC, my question is...why has it got german number plates ?, it has always been seen with British ones.

Hi Adrian,
not sure... but as the pic is taken in Longbridge... i guess it's just a photoshop from the german marketing. At least i think the plate looks shoped.

Hi Sven, maybe you're right. Would the number plate mean anything ?

Not really.
In germany the first part is the city of registration, NE is for Neuss, where MGRover Germany was located. The second part are just some letters completly without meaning/free choosen by the user, and the third part consists of numbers, also to be choosen free (if available).

I've just tried to find the photos from the old website, if this number was ever be seen on one of the press-vehicles of MGR-Germany, but i didn't find any of the pictures.

Adrian,

yes it's the usual number plate style the MG Rover Germany used to use for their German press cars.
I've received the other official photo from Roger Parker back in 2002.
Number plate blindet by his camera flash :o
Do english number plates reflect flash light in this way ?? 8-) 8-) 8-)
All other pics I know do hide the number plate behind any people in front of it.
I think the easiest is to ask Roger. He is standing on the right, up there in the press card pic.

This was the email from Roger in 2002

Yes our number plates also reflect light ,which is why I switch off the flash when the light is low.

I spoke to Roger on Sunday, he didn't know either but he knew about the existence of the picture. That's why I'm asking you

100% Fake.

See the colour of the emissions sticker?
In Germany a new car gets a 3-year-interval before the next emissions test.

A new car licensed in 2002 would have to have emissions checked in 2005.
The sticker colour for 2005 is PINK.

Ha Ha, nice one Sven. No, not at all, I had done everything I wanted to do and I have wanted a pearl black anniversary model TF for a long time, so everything told me it was time to change.

I found this picture as I was going back over old pictures stored to disc looking for data and thought it might be nice to find out now we have this section where we can write

This was a nice investigation and congrats to the ones who solved the mistery.
Now all is left, is a good to know.

PS. Found it funny when BMW was advertising with license plates starting with MG.
